Jan. 28, 2006

Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Shante Glenn scored a team-high 19 points, and Mary Moskal posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, as the Lewis Flyers dominated the Quincy Lady Hawks 73-55, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers improved to 13-6 (9-2 GLVC), while the Lady Hawks, who had their five-game win streak snapped, fell to 14-5 (8-3 GLVC).

Glenn went 8-of-13 from the field, with one 3-pointer. Moskal shot 5-of-8 from the field, and she hit 5-of-8 from the free-throw line in registering her fourth double-double of the season.

Kelly Dianis made three of her four 3-pointers in the first half, totaling 17 points for the game. Darcee Schmidt added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Quincy scored the game's first points, but Lewis quickly responded with an 8-2 run to take a four-point lead. The Flyers never trailed the rest of the game.

The Lady Hawks cut the Lewis lead to three points three times in the first half, the last being at the 11:47 mark, but they could not get any closer. The Flyers' quick pace was too much for Lady Hawks, who found themselves down 15 at the half.

Lewis led by 24 at the 8:45 mark of the second half, and it enjoyed its biggest lead of the game (25 points) with 2:35 to play before closing out the 18-point win.

Deana McCormick tallied a double-double for Quincy with game highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds. She was the only Lady Hawk to reach double figures in both categories.

The Flyers shot 51 percent from the field, while the Lady Hawks, who came in as the conference leaders with a season average of 47 percent from the field, managed only 33 percent for the game.

Lewis made 14-of-20 from the foul line, while Quincy went 10-of-13 at the stripe. The Lady Hawks held the edge in rebounding, 37-34.

The Flyers return to action on Thursday when they play at Rockhurst.
