ROMEOVILLE - Lewis University will host the 2003 Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 25, at Dellwood Park in Lockport.

The women's 6,000-meter race will start at 11 a.m. and the men's 10,000-meter race will begin at noon. Admission is free. The start/finish line is located just south of Parkview Lane, adjacent to the primary parking lot on Woods Drive.

The meet features NCAA Division II nationally ranked teams Southern Indiana (11th) and Southern Illinois Edwardsville (20th) in the women's competition, and Southern Indiana (13th) and Indianapolis (23rd) in the men's race.

Last year, Lewis won the men's conference title by six points over Southern Illinois Edwardsville and by 10 points over Southern Indiana. The championship was the Flyers' second in succession and 10th in the past 11 years. Wisconsin-Parkside was the women's champion, defeating runner-up Southern Indiana by 13 points to capture its fourth consecutive GLVC crown.
