Flyers Announce Schedule

Sept. 28, 2006

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University men's volleyball head coach Dan Friend has announced the Flyers' 2006-07 schedule, a 30-match regular-season slate with 14 home dates.

The Flyers begin pre-season action October 19 at the University of Calgary's Dino Cup Tournament. From there the Flyers head home for another pre-season tune-up on November 4, followed by the annual alumni match on November 11.

Regular-season action begins January 11, when the Flyers head east for matches against Springfield College and Rutgers-Newark. Lewis opens its home portion of the schedule with a Wednesday night match against St. Ambrose on January 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Conference play kicks off two nights later, as the Flyers host Mercyhurst on January 19, at 7:00 p.m. From there the Flyers are on the road for five conference matches before returning home to host Loyola Chicago on February 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Another highlight of the 2006-07 schedule is a two-match swing in Hawaii on March 23-24.

Lewis' longest homestand of the season comes at the end of the regular season when the Flyers host five consecutive matches and push for their first postseason berth of the Dan Friend era.

The homestand begins with a match against Ohio State on Match 30 at 7:00 p.m. and concludes April 13 against 2006 national runner-up Penn State at 7:00 p.m.
