March 6, 2004

Box Score

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Lewis men's volleyball team finished its annual Spring Break West Coast swing 0-3 after losing to top-ranked NAIA Cal Baptist in four games.

Cal Baptist (12-2) is the No. 1 ranked NAIA team in the nation and has won 12 straight matches. The Flyers (8-10) have been traveling west for the past 10 seasons and the 27-30, 36-34, 22-30, 27-30 loss left them winless on its spring trip for just the second time in that span.

Fabiano Barreto paced the team with 18 kills, but had 14 errors to hit .098. Jeff Soler added 10 kills, but was also limited to a low, .030, hitting percentage. Middle blockers Enrique Escalante and James Elsea provided the most consistent offensive attack for the team connecting on 11 and six kills, respectively. Both players hit .500, while Escalante recorded eight blocks.

Setter Brandon Sisk produced an all-around performance with 49 assists, seven digs and eight blocks. Libero Ryan Stuntz registered a team-high nine digs in the loss.

Lewis has lost four straight matches and five of its last six. Its schedule remains formidable as the team travels to conference-leading Ball State Tuesday, March 9.
