Feb. 18, 2005 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's volleyball team has never lost to Quincy and the Flyers pushed that streak to 21-0 with a 30-25, 30-23, 30-22 sweep of the visiting Hawks. Jeff Soler paced Lewis (6-6, 5-1 Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) with 15 kills, seven digs and a .406 hitting percentage. Enrique Escalante added 11 kills and a match-high six blocks. Game 1 of the match was close for three-fourths of the game. The teams traded sideouts and small leads until they were tied at 24-all. From there, Lewis scored six of the next seven points and never looked back for the rest of the match. Quincy finished with a .160 hitting percentage for the match, while the Flyers registered a .306 clip. The Flyers had nine team blocks and 31 digs in the three games. Lewis returns to MIVA action tomorrow night when it hosts Mercyhurst at 7 p.m. |
