ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis used a balanced offensive attack to overwhelm St. Ambrose 30-18, 30-16, 30-17 Wednesday night in a non-conference men's volleyball match at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers (3-0) posted a season-high .478 hitting percentage, pounding out 43 kills with just 11 errors in 67 attack attempts. Game 2 saw Lewis hit an impressive .778 (16-2-18). Drew Pickering and Jared Dayton topped the Flyer kill chart with seven apiece. Pickering hit .750 (7-1-8) and Dayton hit .417 (7-2-12). David Kelnhofer (6-0-8, .750) and Billy Sahagian (6-1-9, .556) were right behind with six kills each. Kelnhofer and Nathan Klaas tallied five digs apiece and Alex Vigansky collected a team-high three blocks to help Lewis limit St. Ambrose (0-1) to an .086 hitting mark. Sahagian registered three of the Flyers' six service aces. Setters Jordan Vidovic and David Taylor notched 24 and 14 assists, respectively, for Lewis, which hosts Mercyhurst Friday at 7 p.m. in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association opener for both teams. |
