Men's Soccer Signs Quartet For 2007

May 1, 2007

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles has announced that four players have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Flyers next season.

The four recruits are defender Brian Chrencik (Darien/Downers Grove South H.S.), forward Armin Vrebac (Loves Park/Harlem H.S.), defender Zac Bond (Decatur/MacArthur H.S.) and midfielder/forward Mardoche Beya (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.).

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Chrencik was an all-conference selection this season, scoring two goals and five assists and helping lead Downers Grove South to conference and regional titles for a second consecutive year. The Mustangs also were 2006 sectional runners-up.

Chrencik has four years of club experience with Chicago Elite, including a season in which the team captured the Best of the Midwest U-16 title. A son of Gary and Marjorie Chrencik, he is a recipient of the West Suburban Gold Conference academic award and a member of the Downers Grove South honor roll.

The 5-10, 165-pound Vrebac is a four-year letterwinner who collected NIC-9 all-conference accolades the past two seasons and was the league's 2006 Most Valuable Player. He made the all-sectional first team as a senior and the all-sectional second team as a junior and was Harlem's Offensive MVP both seasons.

Vrebac holds the school record of 85 career goals, a total that includes Harlem's season mark of 41 goals he tallied this season and 30 goals he netted as a junior. He added 15 career assists.

Vrebac is a seven-year member of the Rockford Raptors Soccer Club, a National Honor Society member and a four-time NIC-9 Scholar Athlete. He is a son of Enes and Samira Vrebac.

The 5-10, 170-pound Bond was highly decorated at MacArthur. He garnered all-Big Twelve Conference and all-area first-team honors his final three seasons, was named Decatur Herald & Review 2005 Player of the Year and was an all-conference and all-area second-team choice as a freshman.

Bond's 23 goals include a career-best 12 during his junior season. A son of Robert and Bridgett Bond, he was a member of the Olympic Development Program national champions, State Cup semifinalists and U.S. Club Region IV champions in 2005.

Bond also lettered twice in football and three years in track and field. He was voted to the all-conference and all-area first teams as a kicker his junior year.

The 6-1, 170-pound Beya was named all-state, all-district, all-conference, team MVP and a Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star this season, recording 10 goals and six assists for a 13-4-1 Princeton team.

Beya scored 28 goals and 10 assists as a junior on his way to earning all-district, conference MVP, all-city, Cincinnati Enquirer first-team and team MVP recognition. As a sophomore, he notched a city-best 79 points (31 goals, 17 assists) for Princeton's 12-2-4 conference champions and was tabbed all-conference, all-district honorable mention and the team's Offensive Player of the Year.

As a two-year member of the Cincinnati United Premier club team, Beya played on squads that captured league and MASC tournament crowns in 2005 and 2006. He led the 2006 team in scoring.

Beya is a National Honor Society member and a frequent member of the Princeton honor roll.
