Dec. 4, 2003 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Three Lewis University men's soccer players have been named to the 2003 NCAA Division II All-Central Region team by a vote of the region's head coaches. Junior defender Mike Dahm and freshman forward Cathal Brady were selected to the all-region first team, while sophomore midfielder Tito Lara was voted to the second team. Dahm, also an All-Great Lakes Valley Conference first-team choice, started all 19 games and registered five goals and one assist for 11 points. He was a key component of the Lewis defense that allowed just 17 goals in 19 games (0.87 goals-against average) and posted five shutouts. Brady, the GLVC Freshman of the Year and an All-GLVC second-team selection, also started every game. He led the Flyers with 13 goals and 31 points and tied for the team lead in assists with five. Lara started every game and tied Brady for the team lead in assists (five). He was second on the team in points (17) and tied for second in goals (six) and was voted to the All-GLVC second team. Lewis finished the season with a 12-5-2 record after winning 10 of its last 11 games. The Flyers captured the GLVC title for a seventh time overall and fifth time in 12 seasons under head coach Evan Fiffles. |
