Nov. 11, 2003 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Three Lewis University men's soccer players have been named to the 2003 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team by a vote of the league's head coaches. Junior Mike Dahm was selected to the all-conference first team, while sophomore Tito Lara and freshman Cathal Brady were voted to the second team. Brady also was named GLVC Freshman of the Year. Dahm started all 19 games and registered five goals and one assist for 11 points. He assisted on the game-tying goal and scored the game-winning goal in the Flyers' 3-1 win over Southern Illinois Edwardsville in last Sunday's GLVC championship game. Dahm also played a key defensive role for the Flyers, who allowed just 17 goals in 19 games for a 0.87 goals-against average. Lara, in his first season at Lewis after transferring from Northwestern, started all 19 games. He tied for the team lead in assists (five), was second on the team in points (17) and tied for second in goals (six). Brady also started every game and led the Flyers with 13 goals and 31 points. He tied Lara for the team lead with five assists. Brady scored five goals in the Flyers' 6-1 win over St. Francis. Lewis finished the season with a 12-5-2 record after winning 10 of its last 11 games. The Flyers captured the GLVC title for a seventh time overall and fifth time in 12 seasons under head coach Evan Fiffles. |
