ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team stayed in the thick of the Great Lakes Valley Conference race Friday with a 1-0 win over archrival Wisconsin-Parkside. The win evened Lewis' overall record at 4-4-2 and gave the Flyers a 3-1 conference mark. Wisconsin-Parkside, which entered the game ranked No. 5 in the Central Region of NCAA Division II, fell to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the league. Justin Sanabria scored the game's only goal, his second of the season, at 24:53. Sanabria intercepted a careless pass in Parkside's end, dribbled in and slipped a shot past Ranger goalkeeper Joe Alessi. Lewis outshot Parkside 12-4 and did not allow the Rangers a shot on goal. Alessi made four saves. The Flyers resume action next Friday at Indianapolis. |
