May 24, 2005 ROMEOVILLE - Waubonsie Valley High School golf standout Greg Roderique, who capped his prep career by tying for 36th place at the 2005 IHSA Class AA State Championship, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play at Lewis University. Roderique was selected 2005 Player of the Year and all-area by the Naperville Sun. He also was all-conference, champion of the Chick Evans Junior Championship, a top-10 finisher at the Illinois Junior State Amateur Championship and Waubonsie Valley's Most Valuable Player as a senior, posting a 75.8 average. As a junior, Roderique tied for 20th at the IHSA State Championship to help the Warriors finish seventh. He also was a Sun all-area choice, team MVP, Illinois section champion and national finalist in the Westfield Junior PGA, and a semifinalist in CDGA Junior Match Play that year. A four-year letterwinner, Roderique was an all-conference performer as a sophomore and champion of the Wheaton Warrenville South Invitational his freshman season. Roderique, who plans to major in finance, is an Illinois State Scholar and high honor roll student. He is the brother of former Flyer Andy Roderique, the 1998 Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. Lewis won the 2003 Great Lakes Valley Conference title and has qualified for the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship the past three seasons. |
