April 10, 2007 COLUMBUS, Ind. - Led by all-conference performer Sumeet Arora and top-10 finisher Brian Carlson, the Lewis University men's golf team registered a solid third-place performance at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship. Arora fired a final-round 2-under-par 70 Tuesday, tying his season best and tying for the best round of the 54-hole tournament. He tied for third at 5-over-par 221, just two strokes behind medalist David Shearer of Northern Kentucky, and earned a spot on the All-GLVC team. Carlson's 74 Tuesday was his best score of the tournament. He tied for 10th at 9-over-par 225 on the 6,897-yard Otter Creek Golf Course layout. Also competing for the Flyers were Lloyd Roth, tied for 25th (229); Josh Butterfield, tied for 29th (231); and Greg Roderique, tied for 45th (239). Lewis, which improved four places in the standings over last season's seventh-place effort, collected team scores of 297-306-302 for a 905 total. Northern Kentucky (886) won the league title, and Southern Illinois Edwardsville (894) was second. |
