Nov. 11, 2005 ROMEOVILLE - Matt Smith, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound post player at Catholic Central High School in Burlington, Wis., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Lewis University. A three-year varsity starter, Smith averaged 10.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots as a junior last season. He was selected to the all-region honorable-mention list and to the all-conference second team. "We're very excited about the addition of Matt to our program," Lewis head coach Kyle Green said. "He will bring size, toughness and a low-post scoring threat to our front line. "Matt plays with great energy and is always working on the court, which allows him to impact the game at both ends," Green added. "He plays in a very successful program under an excellent coach (Paul Deacon) at Catholic Central, so he understands what type of commitment it takes to win." Smith is the first player to sign with the Flyers this year. |
