May 25, 2005 ROMEOVILLE - Mike Davis, who averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds, five blocked shots and four assists per game for the 2004-05 Gordon Tech High School basketball team, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Lewis University. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound Davis enjoyed an outstanding senior season. He was named all-state honorable mention, Lerner Newspapers all-area first team, all-conference, a Chicago Sun-Times Top 50 player and Gordon Tech's Most Valuable Player and was a McDonald's All-America nominee. Davis averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds, two blocked shots and three assists during his junior campaign. He was an all-state honorable mention and all-area special mention choice, a Sun-Times Top 50 selection, all-conference and a second-team pick at the York Christmas Tournament that season. A three-year letterman, Davis earned all-conference honorable mention recognition as a sophomore with averages of 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. He also lettered two years as a pitcher on the baseball team and was a four-year honor roll student. "Mike has very good offensive skills for a player his size," Lewis Head Coach Kyle Green said. "His ability to play inside and on the perimeter should allow him to make an immediate impact on our program. "Signing a student athlete of Mike's caliber who was well-coached in high school and highly recruited speaks very well of Lewis University," Green added. "It also allows us to continue our tradition of successfully recruiting some of the top talent in the very tough Chicago Catholic League." Davis joins Brandon Dagans of Thornton H.S., Ryan Sharp of Plainfield Central H.S., Marcus Scott of Proviso East H.S., Adam Hickerson of Andrew H.S. and Antonio Santos of Northwest (Wyoming) College in the Flyers' 2005 recruiting class. |
