Men's Basketball Demolishes Lincoln Christian

ROMEOVILLE - Lewis used a 14-1 run in the last seven minutes of the first half to pull away from Lincoln Christian, then cruised in the second half to an 80-52 non-conference win Monday night at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers (6-10) snapped a four-game losing streak in their final non-GLVC game of the season, while Lincoln Christian fell to 2-14.

Eight different players scored for Lewis in the first 10 minutes of the opening stanza as the Flyers built a 24-12 cushion. Lincoln Christian used an 8-2 run to crawl back to within six points, 26-20, at the 7:04 mark.

Pat Monaghan ignited the 14-1 spurt that gave the Flyers a 40-21 halftime edge. His steal led to the first basket of the run, and he later scored seven of his 11 points during that stretch.

Anthony Scala led the Flyer scoring effort with 12 points, tied his career high of eight rebounds and added four assists. Monaghan tied his career high of six rebounds and also collected three steals.

Steve Turner had 11 points and three steals, and DeAndre Williams, the Great Lakes Valley Conference assists leader, registered five assists to go with 10 points. Brian Carter grabbed a career-best five rebounds, Brian Hyser tied his career high of seven points, and Randy Wright contributed six assists and tied his career high of five rebounds.

Lewis held Lincoln Christian to 25.8 percent from the field and earned a 52-39 rebounding advantage, including 18 offensive boards.

Lincoln Christian's Frank McCollum led all players with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Travis Chase added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Ryan Post chipped in five assists.

Lewis returns to GLVC action Thursday night at Kentucky Wesleyan.
