Former Flyer Harley Piercy is in his fourth season on the Lewis University men's basketball staff and in his second year as a full-time assistant coach.

Piercy returned to Lewis following one season as an assistant coach at St. Mary's (Minn.) University under former Flyer assistant Mark Lovelace. He was an intern at the Chicago Bulls Training Academy during the summer of 2002.

In 2005, Piercy worked in Los Angeles for West Coast Adidas representatives Dana and David Pump as part of Double Pump, Inc. He helped organize the Harold Pump Foundation Charity Dinner that raised more than $1 million for cancer research and coached the Pump `n Run AAU basketball team that posted a 50-1 record and won the Adidas Super 64, Best of the Summer and Arizona Cactus Classic tournaments. James Harden (Arizona State), Kenton Walker (Creighton), Omondi Amoke (California), Drew Viney (Oregon) and Austin Daye (Gonzaga) were part of the Pump `n Run roster.

The Flyers' 78-39 record during Piercy's four-year career included a 25-7 mark in his junior season, tying the school record for wins, and a 23-8 record in his senior year. Lewis reached the NCAA Division II Championship tournament in his final two seasons and, in his junior campaign, won the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and played in the Great Lakes Regional title game.

A 3-point marksman, Piercy shot better than 42 percent from beyond the arc in each of his final three seasons, including 46.1 percent his senior year. He finished his career at 41.5 percent.

Piercy, who hails from Ottawa, Ill., earned a bachelor's degree in sport management at Lewis in 2003 and, while working as a graduate assistant for former head coach Kyle Green, a master's degree in organizational leadership at Lewis in 2006.
