May 11, 2006 ROMEOVILLE - Lewis University baseball players Darryl Jenkins and Victor Naut have been selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) team by a vote of the league's head baseball coaches. Jenkins, a senior outfielder/infielder, was chosen to the second team, while Naut, a senior third baseman, was named to the honorable-mention list. Jenkins led the Flyers in batting average (.320), on-base percentage (.371) and sacrifice flies (four), tied for the team lead in hits (58) and RBI (28) and was second in doubles (seven), slugging percentage (.398), total bases (72), walks (17) and stolen bases (five). He hit safely in 24 of his last 27 games, including 11 multiple-hit games, to raise his batting average 64 points. Naut led the team in home runs (five), doubles (12), triples (four), total bases (87) and slugging percentage (.458), tied with Jenkins for the team lead in RBI (28) and was second in batting average (.274), hits (52) and runs (26). In the GLVC, he tied for second in triples, was third in total bases, tied for fourth in home runs and was eighth in slugging percentage. |
