ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team received two stellar pitching performances Tuesday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader loss to Wisconsin-Parkside. In the seven-inning opener, Ryan Duran (0-3) went the distance and allowed two unearned runs and two hits while striking out three in a 2-0 defeat. Ryan McManaman doubled for the Flyers off winning pitcher Todd Lorenz (3-1), who yielded two hits and no walks while also going the route. In game two, Andy Hansen (0-3) absorbed a tough-luck loss in Wisconsin-Parkside's 3-1 victory. Hansen gave just one run and seven hits and fanned four in 6 2/3 innings of work. Lewis (2-14, 2-6 GLVC) allowed a pair of unearned runs in the ninth and trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the inning. After winning pitcher Scott Winters (1-0) retired the leadoff hitter, Wisconsin-Parkside (10-7, 5-3 GLVC) opted for reliever Tom Rawski. Rawski retired the first hitter he faced before the Flyers rallied. Singles by Bryan Druktenis and Ryan Reynolds, sandwiched around a walk to Joe Carbone, loaded the bases. Joe Musolino's single plated Druktenis, but Rawski snapped the Flyers' streak of four consecutive baserunners and registered the final out. Winters allowed three hits and two walks in 8 1/3 innings. Reynolds had two hits for Lewis. |
