At Las Vegas Showdown
Kimura tied for 66th, second round continues on Tuesday

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- After one round of play at the Las Vegas Collegiate
Showdown, the Long Beach State women's golf team is currently in 18th
place. The 49ers shot a 323 in the opening round on Monday morning at
the Angel Park Mountain Golf Course. Tennessee is at the top of the leader
board as the Volunteers were a six-under 282, followed by Denver in second
with a score of 285.
Freshman Kylie Kimura leads the 49ers as she's tied for 66th place as
she carded a six-over 78, followed by fellow freshman Lindsey McAtee tied
for 81st with a nine-over 81. Senior Kira Murashige joined the team on
Sunday, replaced freshman Erin Cylke, who had to withdraw from the tournamnt
due to the stomach flu, is currently tied with fellow senior Katy Barrett
for 86th as both shot a 10-over 82. Reina Rogers is tied in 91st.
"I have five very disappointed players in my possession," said
49er Head Coach Sue Ewart. "Though they never gave up, I did witness
some sloppy golf here and there. We had a good practice session after
the round today and we'll be playing hard the next two days. Honestly,
this team has the potential to be very good but we just haven't risen
to the occasion this fall. I think we've all learned some good lessons
and we'll be "re-tooling" once we return home. I think the next
two days will be quite different so keep an eye on those girls!"
The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with
18-holes being played on each day.
