Sullivan Lands 19 Kills in Win Over Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle volleyball team returned to Tom Gola Arena Tuesday night to claim a 3-1 victory over the Lehigh Mountainhawks. The Explorers earned the victory by scores of 30-25, 30-20, 28-30, 30-20 to improve to 9-21 for the season. Lehigh remains winless at 0-26.

Junior Erin Sullivan led the Explorers by landing 17 kills and hitting .387 for the match on 31 attempts and five errors. Sullivan played a well-rounded game with five assists, six digs, two assisted blocks and one service ace.

Freshman Danielle DiMarco tallied 13 kills in the match and served a match-best four service aces. Setter Caitlin Conner added 48 assists to her career total out of La Salle's 61 kills.

Middle Amy McKeon dropped seven kills on the Moutnainhawks and posted the team's best hitting percentage for the night at .417 (7-2-12) and assisted on five blocks. Fellow middle Christa Dominick posted similar numbers with six kills and five total blocks, including four solo and one assisted.

On defense, Libero Carolyn Judge continues to add to her all-time record in digs with 19 and Conner added 12.

Lehigh saw a match-high 19 kills from Michelle Scwendenmann and got an additional 14 kills from Shannon Spafford. Setter Sarah Wolfe tallied 38 assists on 45 Lehigh kills.

On defense, the Mountainhawks were led by Cassidy Maumus with 17 digs and Brittany Thurston with 15. Schwendenmann also got in on the defense completing a double-double with 12 digs.

The Explorers will close out the 2006 home season on Friday, November 3rd when they host the Temple Owls at 7:00 p.m.
