Volleyball Takes Game One at Temple
Posted by: AE Philadelphia, PA – Hitting the road, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team traveled down Broad Street to take on the Temple Owls at McGonigle Hall Tuesday night. After handing the Owls a 30-28 loss in game one, the Explorers faltered the rest of the way, dropping the next three games 30-19, 30-18, 30-25. La Salle falls to 7-14 overall and 0-5 in the Atlantic 10, while the Owls improve to 7-13 and 4-1 in conference action. The Explorers were led by sophomore Kristen Kelsey (Buda, TX/Jack C. Hays) with 14 kills, while posteing 13 digs on defense and leading La Salle with two service aces in the match. Classmate Samantha Takacs (Columbus, OH/Bishop Watterson) contributed 11 kills to La Salle's cause. Assisting on offense, Amanda Woods (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) tallied 43 assists on the evening. Senior libero Caitlin DeJong (Lansing, IL/Marian Catholic) led the way with 17 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Carolyn Judge (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) added an additional 12 digs for La Salle. For Temple, Yue Liu turned in a match-high 25 kills, while hitting .412 for the match. Zhen Jia Liu recorded 14 kills and Sun Ying Ling knocked down 11 kills and earned a match-high 19 digs to lead the Owls to victory. The Explorers return home this Friday, October 15th when they host the Rhode Island Rams at 7:00 pm at Tom Gola Arena. |
