Explorers Sting the Hornets in Three

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Returning to Tom Gola Arena after opening the Atlantic 10 season on the road this past weekend, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team hosted the Delaware State Hornets in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday night.  The Explorers swept the Hornets 3-0, by scores of 30-26, 30-19, 30-27 to improve to 7-12 overall and holding Delaware State winless at 0-14.

Junior Stephanie Owen led all players with 11 kills in the match, but it was Christa Dominick who proved accurate and steady, hitting .438 for the match on nine kills, two errors and 16 attempts.  Erin Sullivan also contributed both on offense and defense, slamming down nine kills on offense and posting eight digs and three assisted blocks on defense.

Setter Caitlin Conner assisted on 34 of La Salle's 46 kills.  Sullivan recorded three additional assists for the Explorers.

On defense, libero Carolyn Judge continues to be a strong force, posting a match-best 19 digs.  Owen matched Sullivan's eight digs.

The Hornets were led by Laura Huculak and Ayanna Dyette each with 10 kills in the three game match.  Setter Kyla Michalski assisted on 32 of 36 Hornet kills.

On defense, Delaware State was led by Kinga Muszynski with 15 digs while Huculak posted the second half of a double-double with 10 digs to go along with the 10 kills.

La Salle will return to action on Friday, September 29th, when they open the home Atlantic 10 season against Rhode Island at 7:00 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
