Explorers Sweep Colgate at Cornell Invitational
Posted by: Sue Senner ITHACA, NY - In their final match of the Cornell Invitational, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team took on the Colgate Red Raiders at Newman Arena. The Explorers swept the Red Raiders 3-0, by scores of 30-24, 30-23 and 30-20. With the win, Two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Christa Domnick recorded a solid hitting line with 15 kills, two errors and 28 attempts for a .464 hitting percentage over the three game. Dominick also led the Explorers at the net with eight blocks (one solo, seven assisted). Sophomore Stephanie Owen also turned in a solid performance, knocking down 11 kills on offense and 12 digs on defense. Libero Carolyn Judge earned a match-high 21 digs and sophomore Erin Sullivan contributed 11 digs. In La Salle's offensive game, Sullivan chipped in six assists and setter Caitlin Conner tallied 37 assists. On the other side of the court, the Red Raiders were led by Katrina Zawojski who posted a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs. Colgate was led on defense by Jacki Adlom with 14 digs. As a team, La Salle hit .395 in the third and final game of the match. The Explorers return home to Tom Gola Arena on Tuesday, September 20th when they host the Loyola Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m.
