Explorers Bucked By Bison

LEWISBURG, PA - In their final match of the 2006 Bucknell Tournament, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team posted a 3-0 loss to host Bucknell.  The Explorers dropped the match by scores of 30-13, 30-20, 30-26.  La Salle know stands at 4-9, while the Bison improve to 8-6.

Junior Erin Sullivan was the lone Explorer to post double-digit kills, landing 10 shots on 37 attempts.  Freshman Rachel Stemper followed Sullivan with seven kills.  Of La Salle's 29 kills in the match, setter Caitlin Conner assisted on 19 and served the Explorers' lone ace of the contest.

On defense, libero Carolyn Judge managed a team-high 13 digs and Conner contributed 10 on the night.  Amy McKeon continued to be a force at the net for the Explorers, earning all three of La Salle's solo blocks and assisting on two blocks.

The Bison were led by Jenna Henderson who tallied a match-best 15 kills and Emilie Hardinge who earned 10 kills.  Setter Shannon Pitsch assisted on 35 of Bucknell's 46 kills. 

On defense, Bucknell got a match-high 22 kigs from Kristen Sydlowski.

The Explorers will return to action at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. when the host the Villanova Wildcats.
