Judge and Owen Led the Explorers Defense at Cornell
Posted by: Sue Senner ITHACA, NY - In the opening match of Cornell's Volleyball Tournament, the Explorers took on the host and fell in three 30-19, 30-15, 30-18 at Newman Arena. With the loss, the Explorers drop to 5-4, while Cornell improves to .500 at 2-2. The Explorers strugged in the match, hitting in the positive in just the first game of the match. Brittany Hanley led the Explorers with a team-best eight kills, while two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Christa Dominick added seven kills. On defense, libero Carolyn Judge tallied 12 digs and Stephanie Owen contributed 10 of her own. At the let, La Salle finished with six team blocks. Senior Kara Branz and Dominick each earned three assisted blocks in the match. On Cornell's side of the net, Alaina Town led all players with nine kills and Alex Dyer landed eight. On defnse for Big Red, Kelly Kramer had 14 digs. The Explorers will look to rebound from the loss on Saturday when they take on Butler at 11:00 a.m. followed by Colgate at 4:30 p.m.
