Explorers Lose on a Long Shot; 10-7

The kick came just four minutes after an Explorer offense, which sputtered much of the afternoon, put together a 59-yard drive that ended when Dave Macknet (
Assumption scored the first touchdown of the game two plays after freshman Deric Dudinski ( Assumption winning drive covered 48 yards on eight plays and was set up on a 43-yard reception by Jake Beers . A few plays later Beers was called for offensive pass interference on a would-be touchdown catch. Eisele had missed from 35 yards and had a 23-yard attempt blocked earlier in the game. The Explorer offense had amassed just 120 yards of total offense prior to their touchdown score which was propelled largely by the senior Procopio who scrambled for several first downs and finished as the game's leading rusher with 95 yards on 11 carries after relieving start Steve Panasuk. Both teams combined for eight turnovers in the game.
