Rich Prall Gets Honors From A-10 and D-5
Posted by: Marc Mullen PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University catcher Rich Prall was honored Monday by both the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Philadelphia Diamond Five as the Player of the Week, after a phenomenal week. Prall raised his batting average almost 40 points (.327 to .366) after batting .579 last week with five doubles and his first collegiate grand slam. He scored six runs and drove in nine, helping the Explorers to a 3-1 week. In the Liberty Bell Championship game Tuesday, he knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as La Salle rallied for three runs to win 6-5. His grand slam in the second game against Massachusetts helped La Salle erase a six-run lead in the seventh inning, and he ended that day with a career-high six RBI. He led his team in all offensive categories, including a 1.000 slugging percentage (19 total bases) and a .600 on-base percentage. For the season, the junior is leading the team with a .366 average with 45 hits, 14 doubles, 25 RBI, and a .533 slugging percentage. In his two and a half seasons at La Salle he has a .351 career average - not seen at the school since 2001 - with 172 hits (10 away from entering the top 10 all-time career list), 35 doubles (sixth all-time), and 243 total bases (three away from the top 10). An All-Conference selection in 2005, this is the second time Prall has been named the A-10's Player of the Week, getting the honor on May 2 of last year. It is his first Diamond Five honor.
