Jay Snyder's Homers Propel La Salle Pass Cornell 8-7
Posted by: Meaghann Schulte (215-951-1633) Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle University Baseball team defeated the Cornell University Big Red 8-7 today, Friday, March 05, 2004 at Hank DeVincent Field on the campus of La Salle University. La Salle was led by senior tri-captain Jay Snyder (Milton, PA/Milton) who recorded a three run homer in the third inning, and followed that up with a one run homerun in the fifth. He was three for four on the day, scored three runs and batted in four runs. Cornell took the early lead as they scored two runs in the first inning, but the Explorers bounced back and tallied back to back three run innings in the second and third, going up 6-4 as they headed into the fourth inning. The Big Red then went on a scoring tangent of their own combining for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings. La Salle stayed right there and held on to the lead and the victory. The Explorers are now 7-2-1 overall and will host Army in a double header tomorrow, Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. |
