Lady Cards Fall to Sugar Bears 3-1

CONWAY, Ark. - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped their third straight match Friday night, falling to the University of Central Arkansas 3-1 in Conway, Ark.

The Lady Cardinals opened the match with a 30-28 win, but UCA quickly bounced back with a 30-22 win of their own to even the match at a game apiece. The Sugar Bears then closed out the match with 30-28 and 30-25 wins in games three and four.

The loss drops Lamar to 9-17 on the year and 5-6 in Southland Conference play. It is the first time this year that the lady Cardinals are below .500 in SLC play. The Sugar Bears improved to 15-14 with the win and 5-6 in SLC play.

Lamar was led by Buchi Okoh's 13 kills while Lauren Holdorff registered 11 kills on the night. Adrianne Meengs passed out 31 assists while Ashley Todd dished out 14 and the Lady Cards were led defensively by Andrea Hamilton's 21 digs, while Kaci Brewer added 14.

The Lacy Cardinals will be in action again Saturday night at 7 p.m. when they take on the Northwestern State Lady Demons in Natchitoches, La.
