BEAUMONT - In addition to being one of the best players in Lamar women's basketball history, LaToya Carson has proved to be equally as impressive in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-America District VI second team honors for the second straight year.

Carson, a senior from Long Beach, Miss., who has a 3.59 GPA in exercise science, also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America District VI second team honors during the 2005-06 season. Last year she was also named to the Hibernia Bank Academic All-Southland Conference Women's Basketball Team.

Carson currently ranks third in scoring this season for Lamar, averaging 14.4 points per game, while pulling down 6.3 rebounds per contest.
