Lamar Sweeps Southland Golfer of the Week's Awards
March 8, 2006 PLANO - Freshmen Justin Harding and Andrew Landry were named Aeropostale Southland Conference Men's Co-Golfer's of the Week and senior Christa Gunn earned Women's Golfer of the Week honors on Wednesday, announced the league office. Harding and Landry finished in a three-way tie with Graham Hill of Eastern Michigan for medalist honors at the Orange County National Xavier Invitational at 8-under par 208. Harding posted rounds of 68-68-72--208 and Landry put together rounds of 67-72-69--208. Landry's round of 5-under 67 was the best of the season. Harding, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, and Landry, a Port Neches native, helped Lamar run away with the team title by 19 strokes over host Xavier. The Cardinals posted a 54-hole total of 31 under par with rounds of 271-277-283--833. The round of 271 is the best by any SLC team this season. A Killeen native, Gunn tied for sixth place to lead the Lady Cardinals at the South Alabama Lady Jaguar Invitational. She posted rounds of 72-77 for a 36-hole score of 149. Gunn's round of even-par 72 was the best of her collegiate career. Gunn helped the Lady Cardinals finish fourth in the 20-team field with a 36-hole team total of 303-311--614. The Cardinals next tournament is March 17-18 at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club. The Lady Cardinals return to action March 20-21 at the Texas-San Antonio Rowdy Round-Up in Comfort, Texas.
