Cardinals Tied for Fourth After First Day at All-American Intercollegiate

SPRING - Paced by sophomore Justin Harding, the Lamar men's golf team is tied for fourth place following Monday's first two rounds at the All-American Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Houston at Cypresswood Golf Club-Tradition Course (Par-72, 7,142-yards). Harding opened with a 1-over 73 in the morning round and fired a 1-under par 71 in the afternoon and is tied for fifth place at even-par 144. Gary Woodland of Kansas holds the 36-hole lead at 4-under par 69-71--140. Lamar opened with a 296 in the morning round and posted a 291 in the afternoon and is tied for fourth place with a 36-hole total of 587. The Cardinals are tied with fellow Southland Conference member Southeastern Louisiana, who held the 18-hole lead after posting a 294, but the Lions slipped to fourth in the afternoon with a 293. Kansas holds the 36-hole lead after posting rounds of 296 and even-par 288 for a 584 total. Middle Tennessee State and host Houston are tied for second in the 11-team field at 586. Junior Casey Clendenon is tied for 12th place for the Cardinals following rounds of 73--74--147. Junior Dawie Van Der Walt and sophomore Oliver Bekker are tied for 16th place at 148. Van Der Walt posted rounds of 76-72 and Bekker had rounds of 74-74. Senior Dusty Smith is tied for 33rd at 76-75--151. The teams will play the final 18 holes in the 54-hole event today beginning at 8 a.m.
