Lamar's Baseball Game Friday Rained Out; Doubleheader Set for 2 p.m. Saturday

HUNTSVILLE - Lamar University's baseball game scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. was postponed due to rain and the Cardinals and Sam Houston State will now play a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Don Sanders Stadium.

Lamar is 22-15 overall and 9-3 in SLC play. The Cardinals are in first place in the SLC East Division standings. Sam Houston is 23-12 overall and 8-4 in SLC play. The Bearkats are in third place in the SLC West Division standings.

Junior Allen Harrington, who is 4-3 with a 5.20 ERA, is expected to start Satuday's first game and sophomore right-hander Brian Needham, who is 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA, is expected to start game two. Jesse Marshall, who is 6-2 with a 3.19 ERA, and Jacob Howard, who is 7-2 with a 2.88 ERA, are Sam Houston's probable starters.

Lamar took two of three from the Bearkats in Beaumont last season and lost two of three to Sam Houston during the 2005 season, which was the last time the two teams met in Huntsville. The Cardinals are 7-5 against Sam Houston over the last 12 games.
