General Releases K-State Announces Radio Sports Show
July 22, 2002 MANHATTAN, Kan. - Fans of Kansas State University athletics can get the inside information on Wildcat sports when K-State Athletics and the Mid-America Sports Network launch the "Wildcat Insider" radio sports talk show on Friday, August 2, officials announced today. Wyatt Thompson, the "Voice of the Wildcats," and Tim Fitzgerald, publisher of Powercat Illustrated and GoPowercat.com, will co-host the program, which will air from 4 p.m., to 5 p.m., Mondays and Fridays on the 580AM frequency owned and operated by the university's radio station, KKSU. "Wildcat Insider" will also be available to fans via the internet at www.kksu.com. Fans will be encouraged to call the show to ask questions about Wildcat athletics and speak with Wildcat coaches and student-athletes who will frequently join Thompson and Fitzgerald on the air. KKSU's Eric Atkinson will round out the broadcast team with special features about the Wildcats and K-State events. "This program will give us a unique opportunity to showcase and promote our teams, coaches, and student-athletes, as well as other University programs and departments, " Director of Athletics Tim Weiser said. "Our fans will have exclusive access to the happenings in Wildcat athletics through the reporting and discussions conducted on air by Wyatt, Tim and Eric." In addition, "Wildcat Insider" will be available to affiliates of the Mid-America Sports Network throughout the state, said Larry Steckline, president of MASN. The Mid-America Sports Network includes 25 stations throughout Kansas airing K-State athletic events, beginning with the 2002 football opener against Western Kentucky on Aug. 31. "This program will allow us to introduce and highlight our new sports network and the affiliates across the state which are airing our games and supporting our program," Weiser said. "We want to give our fans listening to our affiliates as much new and inside information about the Wildcats as we can." ---ksu--- |
