Owls Finish in Top 10 Again

AUBURN, Alabama-- The women's cross country team finished seventh in the 13th Annual Auburn Invitational meet October 8, at the Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, Alabama.

Heavy rains on Friday made the event Saturday quite damp. The soggy conditions didn't phase senior Patrina Hayes who finished sixth (17:03) out of 217 women competitors in the event. Freshman Erin Sutton finished 14th with a time of 17:31, while senior Tara Mooney was the only other Owl to finish in the top 50 (18:10).

The Lady Owls (56-11 overall, 16-6) finished with 214 points, securing seventh place, with an average time of 18:07. The Owls missed finishing in the top five by just 37 points.

Samford captured the title with an average score of 17:32 and 86 points. Shannon Womack from the University Of Tennessee Chattanooga won her third consecutive race with a time of 16:20.

The Owls will compete in the Georgia State Invitational in Panthersville, Ga., Saturday October 15, at 8 a.m.
