Owls Ready for Home Opener
Aug. 28, 2007
KENNESAW, Ga. - The Owls make their 2007 home debut tonight as they battle state-rival, Georgia Southern, at the KSU Convocation Center. The Owls and the Eagles will be meeting for the first time as both squads enter the match in search of their second win of the young season. Kennesaw State defeated North Carolina A&T last Friday at the High Point Tournament in North Carolina while Georgia Southern beat Atlantic Sun Conference member, North Florida. Jenny Black will help lead the Owls in tonight's opener. Black was the lone Kennesaw State player to receive all-tournament team honors last weekend, although the Owls as a whole had many solid performances. Sabrita Gulley led Kennesaw State with 39 kills, averaging 3.55 per match. Lindsay Plotner led the Owls with 14 blocks while Selina O'Leary was tied with Black with 39 digs over the weekend. While Kennesaw State will again be aggressive, they will need to contain the Eagles tandem of Rebecca Orzechovicz and Bianca Julio. Julio leads the eagles with 40 kills in three matches and has been in double-figures in each of the Eagles three matches. The Owls, who will be looking for their first-win in the KSU Convocation Center, will be playing in front of a raucous crowd with the match being promoted as "Pack the Stands Night." |
