Lamb Earns Second A-Sun Pitcher of the Week Honor
MACON, Georgia - April 10, 2006 - For the second time this season, Kennesaw State pitcher Lisa Lamb was selected as the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week in an announcement made by the league office on Monday afternoon.
For the week, in two complete games and one relief stint, Lamb allowed just six hits and one walk in 17.1 innings of work as she picked up two wins to raise her season mark to 13-2. The senior has not allowed a hit in her last 8.1 innings. Lamb started off the week by throwing a five-hit shutout in game one of a doubleheader against Campbell on Wednesday afternoon. The Marietta, Georgia native only allowed one walk while fanning two Campbell batters. She followed that performance with an equally impressive relief appearance in game two against the Camels, as she threw the final 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out two as the two teams split the doubleheader. She earns her second Pitcher of the Week award behind a historic performance. Lamb culminated a week in which she didn't allow an earned run with a no-hitter against Gardner-Webb on Saturday. The senior went the distance, striking out five Bulldog hitters. Lamb was nearly perfect, but a pair of second inning errors by shortstop Amanda Malcom and third baseman Jen Nolan gave the Bulldogs their only run of the day. Lamb's performance in the circle, combined with Brittany Matthews' no-hitter in the second game against the Bulldogs led to the Owls' first no-hit doubleheader in school history. Lamb joins Nolan as the only two Owls to be honored by the Atlantic Sun this season. Nolan was named A-Sun Player of the Week back on March 20. |
