Piotrowski Named Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 24, 2007
MACON, Ga. - Kennesaw State goalkeeper Katie Piotrowski has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement released by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Piotrowski claimed the award on the heels of back-to-back shutouts over UAB and Elon this past weekend at the KSU Soccer Complex. She has now recorded three straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal in the last 300 minutes of play. The freshman from Rahway, New Jersey had the best showing of her young collegiate career as she stopped 12 shots by the Blazers, including two at point blank range to preserve the Owls 1-0 win over the No. 11 ranked team in the Southeast Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine. Piotrowski followed that performance by making four saves in KSU's 1-0 defeat of Elon on Sunday afternoon. While not tested as much as in her previous match, she was forced to make a diving punch over the bar to give the Owls their fifth straight victory. Her 1.14 goals against average ranks third in the A-Sun and her three shutouts are tops in the league. Piotrowski and the rest of her Owls teammates will be back in action this weekend as KSU opens conference play against Stetson on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. |
