Women's Golf Announces 2007 Fall Schedule

Aug. 9, 2007

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Owls, under first-year head coach Rhyll Brinsmead, announced the 2007 women's golf fall schedule in which Kennesaw State will compete in five events including the three-day Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University.

The Owls will compete against Southeastern Conference and Big 10 Conference schools in what should be the most challenging tournament in their short three-year history. The tournament will be held from October 19-21 at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

"I want us to compete against the top competition to see where we are as a team," said Brinsmead. "It will be a good challenge for our women playing against some of the top ranked teams in the nation."

The Owls open up the 2007-08 campaign in early September when they travel to Virginia to play in the Draper Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Appalachian State. Kennesaw State played their first ever match at the Draper Invitational two years ago, finishing tied for ninth in a field of 16 teams.

Kennesaw State returns to action two weeks later to compete in the Great Smokies Invitational hosted by Western Carolina University. The two-day event is scheduled for the final two days of September and will be played at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C.

"With an improved and challenging schedule it is our goal to earn some wins over ranked squads and move up in the rankings ourselves," Brinsmead added.

In mid-October, the Owls will travel close to home when they head to Augusta, Ga. to compete in the Lady Jaguar Invitational hosted by Augusta State. After the Lady Paladin Invitational Kennesaw State will close out their fall schedule with a trip to Florida to compete in the DeBary Invitational hosted by Winthrop University.
