Lady Owls Begin Preseason Slate

Nov. 2, 2006

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Lady Owls will kick off the 2006-07 season with a preseason game against their former Peach Belt Conference rivals, Columbus State, tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.

Kennesaw State will be making their season debut as they look to rebound from last season's 5-22 record.

The Lady Owls will be playing two exhibition games this season with their preseason finale coming against Berry College on Monday evening against Berry College.

"It's going to be good to play against a true opponent rather than a scrimmage," said head coach Colby Tilley. "Tonight will be a good gauge of where we are and what things to we need to work on before the regular season begins."

The Lady Owls are young, but they will return some contributing veterans in center Stephanie Scearce and guards Jade Robinson, Ashley Johnson and Jennifer Baker.

Scearce returns to the lineup after missing last season with a knee injury. Johnson and Baker enjoyed a strong freshman campaign last year and this season both will be looked upon to increase their roles.

Columbus State is coming of a 17-15 season last year and a sixth place finish in the PBC. The Cougars return all-conference center Cherwona Walker. The senior averaged 11.2 points and 8.3 rebounds and will be a good test for the Owls post players.
