Clarke Wins Player Of The Week Honors
Kennesaw, Georgia - For the second time this season, Shovonder Clarke has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for her solid performance last week.
Clarke, a junior from Euxema, Bahamas, averaged 26.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest in the games against Armstrong Atlantic and Lander. She also had nine steals and seven assists. White-hot shooting from behind the three point line was partly the reason for the scoring output, as Clarke was 11-for-15 (73%) from the arc. She joins Audosha Kelley as the only two players to have garnered the award twice this season. Clarke also won the award in the first week of the season. In Wednesday win over AASU, Clarke recorded her eighth double-double of the season, scoring 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. On Saturday against Lander, Clarke bettered herself by one point, notching 27 points, her third highest total of the season. Much of that total came courtesy of the three-point line, as Clarke made seven of nine (77.8 %). Currently, Clarke is ranked second in the PBC in both scoring with a 17.2 average and three-point field goal percentage (44.9 %) and fifth in rebounding with 8.9 per game. |
