Owls Head to Georgia State Invitational
Sept. 13, 2007
ATLANTA, Ga. - Kennesaw State men's cross country will be back in action this Saturday morning as the team competes in the 2007 Georgia State Invitational at the Georgia Regional Hospital. The Owls (13-1) took first place at the 2007 Mercer-Atlanta Invitational last weekend, led by Sophomore Peikko Solla, who finished in second place with a time of 20:48.79. Nathan Haskins, Piotr Witczak and Steven Murray crossed the finish line seconds after as the Owls cruised to a 16 point win. This week, however, the Owls face a field of Division I opponents on a much longer 8k course. "So far we've had a good season," said head coach Stan Sims. "Our freshmen have really stepped up and our veterans like Peikko (Solla) and Nathan (Haskins) have done a great job. We've had some good runs on short courses but this 8k is going to be something totally different. We're going to find out where our team really stands on Saturday." The meet will begin at 9 a.m. when the men compete in the 8k race and will be followed by the women running the 5k at 10 a.m. |
