Owls Look to Win Deep In the Heart of Texas
Dec. 17, 2007
KENNESAW, Ga.--The Kennesaw State men's basketball team will look to return to its winning ways this Tuesday when it travels to San Marcos, Texas, to face the Texas State Bobcats. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and can be heard locally on SuperTalk 1230/1340-AM. Tuesday night's contest marks the second game of a six-game road trip for the Owls. KSU dropped a 77-72 decision to Maryland-Eastern Shore last Tuesday in Princess Anne, Md. The Owls (2-6) were down by 13 points at the half but rallied to trail by just three points on two occasions in the final minute of play. Ronell Wooten led the way with 26 points, including a season-high six three-pointers. Texas State (5-4) is coming off a 96-81 loss to No. 4 Texas last Saturday. The Bobcats trailed 42-40 at the half against the Longhorns and trailed 68-62 with 11:20 remaining. Brent Benson came off the bench to lead the Bobcats with 15 points, with Brandon Thomas adding a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Bobcats were one of four teams at KSU's 100 Club Classic earlier this season, but the Owls did not face the Bobcats during the tournament. The Owls defeated Jacksonville State in the opening round and lost to Colgate in the championship game, while the Bobcats lost to Colgate but topped JSU in the consolation game. Wooten and Shuan Stegall were both named to the all-tournament team for the Owls, while Benson was the all-tournament representative from the Bobcats. Following Tuesday's contest, the Owls will return to action this Saturday when they face the Leathernecks of Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill., at 2:00 EST. |
