KSU Duo Are High Flying
Jan. 29, 2007 KENNESAW, Ga. - Next on the milestone watch for Kennesaw State is Ronell Wooten. The Owls most electrifying player is on a quest to become the ninth player in KSU history to score 1,000 points in his career. The Kennesaw State junior will likely to become the second player this season to hit the 1,000-point plateau when the Owls take the court for a regionally televised game against Campbell. Wooten will join teammate Golden Ingle who accomplished the milestone feat in late December. Head coach Tony Ingle will now have three players score 1,000 or more points in their career since becoming the Owls leader in 2000-01 (Edderick Womack also scored 1,000 in his career but only played two of his three seasons for Ingle). Wooten, who has scored 304 points thus far this season, stands just eight points away from 1,000 points. The Statesboro, Ga. native scored 254 points his freshman year and last season scored 434 points when he averaged 15.5 points per game. Ingle, who is averaging nearly 16 points per game over his KSU tenure, has 1,132 points in his illustrious career and is just 20 points away from Terrance Hill for fifth place on the all-time scoring list. Ingle, who is also 40 assists away from being the Owls career leader, joined the list after having his collegiate career interrupted for three full seasons while serving a Mormon mission. Hill, who played for Kennesaw State for just two seasons including the 2004 national championship season in which he was named the CBS Most Outstanding Player, has the highest two-year point total in school history with 1,152. Herman Smith, who played from 1986-1990, is Kennesaw State's all-time leading scorer with 1,698 points. Smith played for the Owls when Kennesaw State was a member of the NAIA.
