Ingle, Morgan Lead Owls Over Hump

Buies Creek, North Carolina - January 9, 2006 - Golden Ingle hit a go-ahead three-pointer with thirty-one seconds remaining and Andre Morgan scored a game-high 30 points as Kennesaw State downed Campbell, 81-77, on Monday evening at Carter Gymnasium.

The Owls (6-8 overall, 4-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) battled fiercely with the Campbell Camels (4-9, 3-3) for the better part of the second half as they came from behind to pick up their second consecutive road win and take over sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Sun Conference, just one-half game behind Florida Atlantic.

"It was a great win for us," said head coach Tony Ingle. "Any time you can earn a victory on the road against a tough opponent is special. I am just so proud of how our guys played tonight. We battled throughout and stayed together and it gave us a victory."

Kennesaw State, who jumped to a 21-7 lead in the early stages of the first-half, rallied from a seven-point deficit with 10:57 left to play in the second half.

In a second half that saw eight lead changes and five ties, the Owls took their final lead of the game when Golden Ingle connected on a long-range, three-pointer with :31 seconds left in the game. Ingle would seal the win with a pair of free-throws with :21 seconds left in the game.

Campbell held a four-point lead, 70-66, with 3:07 left before Ronell Wooten drained a three-pointer to make the score 70-69. Wooten hit a pair of free-throws ten seconds later to give Kennesaw State a one-point lead before Reggie Bishop (3-for-8, 10 points) hit a three-pointer to push the Camels to a two-point advantage.

Golden Ingle quickly responded by driving the lane and earning a trip to the free-throw line where he made both shots to tie the game at 73-73.

Ruell Pringle (5-for-17, 19 points) gave the Camels another lead when he made a lay-up with 1:26 left, giving the home-town Camels a two-point lead.

In their next possession, Wooten again stepped up big for the Owls as he connected on his second three-pointer in ninety-seconds, giving Kennesaw State a 76-75 lead. Pringle quickly added a pair of free-throws to give Campbell its final lead of the night with 1:02 left in the game.

Campbell out-rebounded the Owls by 20 boards (including a whopping 23-5 on the offensive end), but an aggressive offense put the Kennesaw State on the free-throw line 41 times where they connected on 33 foul shots. In comparison, the Camels went to the free throw line 29 times and connected on only 14 free-throws.

Golden Ingle (10-for-13) and Morgan (13-for-16) combined to make 23-of-29 free throws and did a tremendous job pressuring the Campbell guards as the Owls caused 22 Campbell turnovers.

"They did a great job exposing us," said Campbell head coach Robbie Laing. "We weren't ready to play and we didn't understand how good of a team Kennesaw State is."

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday evening, January 12 when they host East Tennessee State at 7:00 at the KSU Convocation Center.
