2007 (RS): Redshirted his first year at Kansas.

High School: Had an outstanding senior season which saw him earn All-State First Team honors at quarterback and second-team accolades at defensive back... Named to the Kansas Top 11 team... Ranked among the top five prospects in the state of Kansas and as the 27^th-most talented cornerback in the nation by Rivals.com... Was an All-League First Team selection at quarterback in 2006 and a second-team selection at defensive back... Rushed for more than 1,000 yards, passed for more than 1,800 yards and scored 33 touchdowns as a senior... Is Free State High School's career interceptions leader (eight), single-season total offense leader (2,984) and single-season passing leader (1,863)... Helped the Firebirds to the Sunflower League title and state semifinals in 2006... Earned varsity letters in football, basketball and track... Coached in football by Bob Lisher... Named to the Free State honor roll.

Personal: Born in Camden, Ark... Major is sports management... Would like to start a family after college... Likes to watch movies and play video games... Son of Rebecca and the late Marcus Murphy, Sr.... Has two brothers, including a twin Brian, who was on the KU football team in 2007.
