Hopkins Competes at Paul Short Invitational

LEHIGH, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's cross-country team competed at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday afternoon in Lehigh, PA. The Blue Jays competed in the brown race which consisted on teams from Division I and ranked Division II and III teams. Hopkins finished 35th among 47 teams.
The team title was won by Princeton University while West Virginia, Texas Tech, Wisconsin and Stony Brook rounded out the top five teams. The individual title went to Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech. She completed the course in 19:59.
The Blue Jays finished 35th and finished ahead of local Division I schools, Loyola and UMBC. Hopkins was led by sophomore Laura Paulsen (Lutherville, MD/Bryn Mawr) who finished 65th with a time of 22:02. The next Blue Jay to cross the line was Rachel Hogen (Tarzana, CA/Harvard Westlake), whose time of 23:36 was good for 192nd place. Mira Patel (Moraga, CA/Campolindo) was just behind Hogen, finishing in 23:37 to place 193rd. Mary O'Grady (Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage) completed the course in 23:48 to finish 208 while Jacci Clauss (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was 209th with a time of 23:49. Megan Brower (Cary, NC/Green Hope) finished 242nd with a time of 24:19 while Emma Hiza (Nottingham, NH/Phillips Exeter Academy) rounded out the Hopkins competitors with a time of 24:21 to finish 246.
Hopkins is back in action on October 6th at the Dickinson Invitational at 10 a.m.
