Two Blue Jays Earn Centennial All-Conference Honors
Nov. 3, 2006 LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior libero Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) and sophomore setter Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) earned All-Centennial Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Friday morning. Kay was a second team selection while Lewis earned honorable mention honors.
Kay earns All-Centennial honors for the third time in her career as she was an honorable mention selection her sophomore year and a first team selection last year. She played in all 27 matches this year and 90 of a possible 95 games. She led the Blue Jays in digs with 599 and posted a season-high 41 digs in a victory over Swarthmore. Kay holds the Hopkins and Centennial Conference record for digs in a career with 2,504. She also holds the top four spots on the JHU season record list for digs in a season and digs per game.
Lewis earns All-Centennial Honorable Mention for the second straight year. She played in all 27 matches this year and 91 of a possible 95 games. Lewis led the Blue Jays in assists as she dished out 1,189 helpers this year. She also averaged a school-record 13.07 assists per game to better the previous record of 13.01, which she had set as a freshman last year.
Hopkins (15-12, 6-4 CC) ended the season on a four-match win streak. The Blue Jays graduate Kay and three other seniors, but will return Lewis and 13 other letter winners next season.
