GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped and lost for the first time in Centennial Conference action Wednesday evening against Gettysburg, 3-0 (28-30, 25-30, 28-30). The Blue Jays fell to 18-17 overall and 7-1 in conference play, while the Bullets improved to 15-11 overall and 6-1 in CC action.

Even with the loss, Hopkins secured a spot in the Centennial Tournament as McDaniel College was defeated by Franklin & Marshall. Franklin & Marshall and Haverford have also clinched a spot in the tournament, while Gettysburg can clinch with one win or a Swarthmore loss. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, November 9.

Junior Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) led the Blue Jays with 15 kills and also added nine digs and two blocks. With 398 kills for the season, Kaliades needs just two to become the third player in school history to record 400 kills in a season. She also reached 700 kills for her career and ranks ninth at Hopkins with 712 career kills.

Sophomore Skye Young (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) contributed nine kills and four digs, while senior Elisabeth Breese (Geneva, NY/Geneva) and junior Samantha Raggi (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) both tallied six kills. Raggi did not commit an error in 11 attack attempts and posted a .545 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) collected a team-high 33 assists and 13 digs. She leads Hopkins in both categories with 694 assists and 399 digs, and needs one dig to become the first player in school history to total 400 digs in two different seasons. As a freshman, Baydala registered 407 digs and 3.57 digs per game.

Hopkins returns to action Saturday as the Blue Jays travel to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to face Centennial Conference foe Franklin & Marshall at 11:00 a.m.
