BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball defeated Bryn Mawr, 3-0, in the first match on Saturday in Goldfarb Gymnasium. The Blue Jays pulled away from the Owls winning by scores of 30-19, 30-18 and 30-8.

In the first victory junior setter Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) paced the offensive attack with 36 assists. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, CT/Ridgewood) recorded 18 kills for JHU. Sophomore outside hitter Kate O'Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) continued to shine defensively, leading Hopkins with 14 digs. Another factor in the victory was sophomore middle blocker Jenn Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul IV), who delivered five aces throughout the match.

In the second match Hopkins recorded a 3-0 victory over Muhlenberg with scores of 30-21, 30-20 and 30-27. Baydala once again was a force on offense registering 36 assists, while Kaliades added ten kills in the win. Freshman libero Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) led JHU with 12 digs as the Blue Jays had control of this match throughout.

Hopkins improves to 6-1 in conference play and 19-6 overall, which is just one win short of its total last season. Up next is a tri-match at Swarthmore with Dickinson on Saturday, October 25 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
